KERAFIX® Cooling-Strip F · Intumescent strips
KERAFIX® Cooling-Strip F offers outstanding cooling properties in case of fire, extending the fire resistance duration of fire protection constructs. KERAFIX® Cooling-Strip F is made of minerals which absorb large amounts of heat once an activation temperature of approx. 100 °C is reached and release approx. 26 % of water of crystallisation. The application of KERAFIX® Cooling-Strip F and its special 2K variant coated on one side with KERAFIX® Flexpress 100 (ablative and intumescent) provides solutions with fire resistance periods from 30 minutes to over 90 minutes for wood, aluminium and steel constructs.

Properties
- KERAFIX® Cooling-Strip F is a fire protection material with an ablative effect, containing substances which are subject to chemical change in an endothermic reaction when exposed to heat and absorb energy in the process.
- This mainly causes the release of combined water.
- It is this absorption of energy that reduces the transfer of heat to the side facing away from the fire more effectively than standard thermal insulation.
- In the end, a porous, inorganic carcass will remain, which also has a thermally insulating effect.
